ASBURY PARK, NJ - Altruistic, energetic, and enthralling are just a few adjectives that describe British singer-songwriter, Dominic Harrison, or as better known by his fans as, YUNGBLUD.
With a stage presence larger than life, and infusing hints of alternative rock, pop punk, and melodic guitar hooks into his music, Harrison has begun to carve a path for himself seemingly without being defined by genres.
Having collaborated with artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, Bring Me The Horizon, Avril Lavigne, and blackbear to name a few, the sky seems to be the limit for the 25-year-old from Doncaster, England.
Coming off the release of his critically acclaimed, self-titled third album, YUNGBLUD, Harrison announced that he would be embarking on YUNGBLUD – THE WORLD TOUR, a tour spanning across 29 North American cities. The tour kicked off in Seattle, WA on April 29th.
We happened to be on site on July 15th, at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ when YUNGBLUD took the stage along with a tandem of openers that included Games We Play, as well as the Los Angeles based group, The Regrettes.
First to the Stone Pony Summer Stage was Games We Play, a pop-punk trio consisting of Jake Kraner, Jose Crespo, and Emmyn Calleiro, who were quick to get the crowd into the swing of things with their hit track, “I Hope You’re Happy.”
Next to the stage were The Regrettes who picked up right where Games We Play left off. Frontwoman Lydia Night had the crowd moving, even inciting a mosh pit during the band’s second song of the night, “California Friends.”
The group went on to play a cover of Robyn’s, “Dancing on My Own,” before winding down their evening with an electric performance of their acclaimed, “Barely on My Mind.”
Thus, the wait was over, and it was finally time for the man of the evening to take the stage, Mr. Dominic Harrison.
YUNGBLUD, came out to the title track of his debut album, “21st Century Liability,” before moving into the Billy Idol like dance track, “The Funeral.” The latter of which’s music video just so happens to feature Rock and Roll royalty, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.
The fun continued later in the set when YUNGBLUD performed a rendition of his hit song with Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker, “I Think I’m OKAY.”
Before closing out the night with an encore featuring a duo of songs, starting with Harrison’s new single, “Lowlife,” before capping things off with the deep cut track, “Loner,” which featured a conglomeration of dancing fans on stage.
Harboring an environment of positivity and individuality, YUNGBLUD, is staying true to himself on this tour and only deepening his place in the hearts of fans all over the United States. This is for sure a tour that you don’t want to miss out on.
